THE BRIEF AND VISIBILITY PROBLEM
Making a recessed property easier to recognise
At the project location, 91 Edinburgh Street, Pukekohe, the building was set back from the road. Signage needed to introduce the clinic to motorists and pedestrians before they reached the entrance, while remaining suited to the converted house and its residential character.
KEY DESIGN DECISIONS
A roadside marker supported by considered shopfront design
A plinth at the fence line provided roadside identification. Beauty-service imagery communicated the offer at the frontage, while the logo on clear acrylic allowed the painted brickwork to remain visible. Inside, raised 3D lettering on clear acrylic with standoff fixings continued the presentation. Teardrop flags added a flexible promotional element.

A connected salon identity
The roadside plinth, frontage graphics and interior branding each perform a distinct role within one coordinated system, addressing the building setback without forcing every surface to carry the same message.

The sloping top gives the plinth a distinct outline. Brand, services and contact information follow a vertical order, using the light face to separate the entrance marker from the darker surroundings.

The frontage assigns different roles to different surfaces: a restrained identity sign, a decorative glazed panel and photographic service graphics. The dark cladding connects the separate elements without merging their messages.

The transparent panel allows the brick texture to remain visible behind the artwork. White lettering provides contrast, while visible corner fixings give the plaque a defined position on the wall.

The matching flag shapes carry separate promotional messages, with the salon identity repeated above. Red and blue areas distinguish the messages; visible prices are historical artwork, not newly confirmed offers.
